The product of Chicago via Lansing Michigan, alt hip hop artist Amosz Mal, is poised to stir things up. In the tradition of PE, Prince, and The Last Poets, to name a few, Mal creates music for the next generation of fine young radicals. At a time when much of music is self indulgent, disingenuous, and void of substance, Amosz brings artistry, truth, and a respect for the integrity of real music fans, wrapped in a non status quo package, utilizing punk rock, production aesthetics, boom bap, hip hop rhythms, spoken word delivery,and rock guitar, virtuosity.
Amosz's debut releases, United States Of Egypt, and The Nigga Box EP, were written, performed, produced, and recorded autonomously in a seventeen day period followed two months later by a week long recording stint in which he completed The Nigga Box EP. All of this was completed after scratching a previously recorded record, feeling that that record did not represent, or address the place that Mal was in musically, spiritually or mentally. Mal's blend of spoken word, hip hop, and rock are not new, but Mal's fresh interpretation reminds us just how well those genres flow together. The combining of these genres, allows Mal to make music with powerful messages; messages that are often drenched in uncompromising, brutal honesty, as is the case with his current releases, which tackle issues like the deceptions of modern day religions, and their detrimental effects on it's followers. This subject is one that is near and dear to Mal's heart, having just walked away from the trappings of religion himself.
Amosz will be releasing these projects on his own, and will be distributing them exclusively on his own website. Mal also hopes to tour as much as possible in support of both projects. At a time when deception, complacency and self glorification have reached new, all time heights, Amosz Mal is set to help create a soundtrack for truth, awakening, and freedom, using nothing more than a guitar, microphone, and a drum machine.
